Blues Bass 2

Better pictures of my Geddy 5 clone

I've shielded it with copper foil, potted the pickups, added a Switchcraft jack, swapped the neck for this Maple board one and added two string tees for better downforce past the nut.

Planet Boulder's

Just got my SX today and the shielding paint is now drying.

Assuming Brices count(?), here's my Douglas fretless:

Here's my in-progress Essex project. I've changed the bridge and tuners to black hardware and I'm still waiting for my black control plate to come in. I might end up switching the pickups but as of right now they get the job done.

Here's a replica Steve Harris sig model that I built for a TB'er. The only thing stock is the wood and blue paint. Exceptional blue paint I might add! This thing was built for a metal player. Here's the rundown...

The bass began as a PB62 in blue with a rosewood neck. We swapped out the old neck for a maple but the maple neck had some fret issues. I did a complete fret job and gave the ends a hemispherical shape. The name came from the client but I designed the decal. We downloaded the font from abstractfonts.com. The nut is black phenolic. I did not go for real Schaller tuners as I believe them to be an inferior product so I used Gotoh's of the same configuration. All stainless steel screws. I used steel inserts and 10-20 stainless steel screws to bolt the neck on. The neck has been refinished with a high solids acrylic polyurethane. Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder pup with new black neoprene foam pads. Full shielding. CTS pots with handmade custom knobs to match the black Fender pickguard. The budget and availability precluded a purple pg like the original. I mounted the BAII with threaded inserts into the body for the first time and it's proven to be viable. The Schaller strapbuttons were installed using the same method of an insert and stainless steel screws. I had to modify the screws because, as you all know, they have a small diameter top to fit the button. Here are some pics - hope you like:

Here is my three year old SX BG-205 Ash.

Stock except for wooden pot knobs and replacement Dimarzio 250k pots; two of the stock pots crapped out on me about three weeks ago. The tone pot quit first, but it was working in 'wide open' mode for the longest. It has a set of Curt Mangan round nickels on it - http://www.curtmangan.com/

I also shielded it with copper foil tape and grounded the bridge to kill some noise.

Here is the SX SJB-62QMD Fretless I got a few months ago. I replaced the the Stock Pups with Di-Marzio DP123s. The bridge is a Gotoh 201. The strings are GHS Pressure Wounds. Everything else Is stock. I did some work on the fretboard. I sanded it with a 9.5" radius sanding block from Stewart Macdonald and finished the board with boiled linseed oil.

Here a clip of a tune I've been working on. It's the clip called "Spider Downs" at the top of the page.

Premium sound. Great look! I paid a little more than you would expect from an SX, but it's well worth it.

SX Jazz with block inlay neck, BAII bridge and S/P switch. I have a black PG but I like the white one for now. Sounds incredible.

I just realized: I have an SX bass, a Trace Elliott amp, a Hartke cab and a Behringer effects processor. Is this the most hated combination on Talkbass?

The LPB SX is my primary workhorese bass. Mods incude pickguard by pickgaurdian.com in celluloid Tortoise, Fender 62RI pickup, 500K volume & tone pots , pro fret work, recently added after 2 years(not picutred) a Wilkinson bridge.

The Sunburst SX is the backup w/ a Reverend 8.7K??(if I remember right) pickup, 1meg vol pot, allparts faux tort pickguard, and that's about it. Otherwise stock.
